C’mon, finding roots! Meagan Good and Jonathan Majors received citizenship in Guinea after tracing their ancestry through DNA testing. The Hollywood couple was awarded citizenship in a private ceremony in the capital of Conakry on Friday, per the Associated Press. On Sunday (Jan. 11), they had plans to explore the West African country’s tourist sites. Additionally, Meagan hopped online to speak of the honor.

Meagan Posts About Citizenship Journey
On Sunday, Meagan Good shared photos from her and hubby, Jonathan Majors, accepting their roles as new ambassadors for Guinea. She said, in her Instagram caption, that this weekend was “a historic moment” for them. In addition to becoming Guineans, they were appointed as Global Cultural Ambassadors of Branding Guinea.
“This recognition goes beyond titles; it is a homecoming and a reconnection to our Afrodescendant roots,” Meagan Good wrote in her recap post. “This moment reflects Guinea’s bold spirit, rooted in sovereignty, culture, and truth. Known as the rebels of Africa, Guinea has always chosen dignity, identity, and freedom. That same spirit lives across the diaspora, and this connection is intentional and ancestral. As Global Cultural Ambassadors, our mission is to build bridges, amplify Guinean culture, and unite our global family. We already look forward to our next trips in Guinea.”
Her caption also thanked the government of Guinea, the country’s president, and other officials. She also wrote, “This is history in motion. We look forward to building a united future together.”
Meagan Good And Jonathan Majors Welcomed With Love In Guinea
Guinea has been ruled by junta leader Gen. Mamadi Doumbouya since a 2021 coup. Last month, he was declared the winner of the presidential election after clamping down on opposition and dissents, leaving him with no major opponents. Following the stars’ new citizenship ceremony, the head of the president’s cabinet spoke out.
“We think that you are among the worthy sons and daughters of this Guinea. You represent our country, the red-yellow-green flag all over the world,” said Djiba Diakité.
Guinea is not the first country to award citizenship to descendents of enslaved people. Last year, Ciara became one of the first public figures to become a citizen of Benin. Also, Ghana last year naturalized 524 African Americans. That happened after President Nana Akufo-Addo invited them to “come home” in 2019, as part of the 400th anniversary of the arrival of the first enslaved Africans in North America in 1619.
What To Know About The Couple
Jonathan Majors seemed destined for the ranks of Hollywood’s A-list. Then, he was arrested following a 2023 altercation with his then-girlfriend. He had won critical accolades for his work in ‘Da 5 Bloods’ and ‘Lovecraft Country’ and secured years of future Marvel stardom with his role as Kang the Conqueror. However, after his conviction on assault and harassment charges, Marvel dropped him from future projects. ‘Magazine Dreams,’ a film once tipped to bring him an Oscar nomination, went on ice until last year.
Meagan Good began dating Majors in 2023, and was a constant presence at Jonathan Majors’ trial in New York. They were engaged in 2024, and wed last year in a small, impromptu ceremony. At the time, he was also promoting ‘Magazine Dreams.’
