First of all I have to start this by commending the Chicago PD team for making this powerful episode but also showcasing such a tragic event in an incredibly raw and respectful way. This is unfortunately real-life experiences, and they did it with the utmost regard for those people who have experienced this.

This episode was a really tough watch for many reasons, but the fact that it felt real was especially why and that it down to how the actors held themselves. I loved that we were able to have another Trudy centric episode because Amy Morton does a fantastic job whenever she is on screen and this time was no different.

Right from the jump Trudy did not believe that McKay would have committed Suicide, as she kept saying she was with him the night before and he seemed fine. It was interesting to watch the dynamic between Burgess and Trudy this episode, normally they are very much on the same page, but you could tell there was a fair few moments where Burgess strayed from what Trudy was thinking and that eventually led to her discovering the truth about what had happened.

There was one moment where Voight said, “you’ve got the solution strapped to your side” and that was such a powerful statement. It was nice to see everyone rally around Trudy even though you could see there was some definite doubt from the intelligence unit. I know we don’t get to see Trudy and Voight hang out when they are off the clock, but we got to see that he had her back the moment she needed him without her even asking him.

I have already said Amy Morton did a fantastic job, but I feel like it needs to be said again because it is not easy portraying such a heavy episode. Trudy’s breakdown with Burgess after accepting what had happened was so emotionally raw, hat’s off to her.
