Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Mary Cosby shared an update with her son Robert Cosby Jr. after his recent arrest, and revealed why she hasn’t visited him.
Last season, Robert bravely opened up about his battle with addiction. At the time, he shared that he was struggling with sobriety though he knew he needed help. In November (weeks after his September 5 arrest), Robert reportedly pleaded guilty to violating a protective order and assaulting a peace officer.
During a season 6 reunion preview, Mary shed tears as she addressed how Robert is in jail.
First, Mary shared that her son was arrested after he allegedly violated a restraining order.
“[His wife’s family] filed a restraining order against him, and he went back [to visit her] anyway, thinking that she wants him to come back and save her. I don’t know where he’s getting that from … delusional,” said the star, via BravoTV.
Andy Cohen said a sentencing hearing has been scheduled for February of 2026.
“I’m not worried about him,” said Mary. “I know he’s somewhere where he’s not using. At some point, I have to step back so that he can learn and he can make his own decisions, and unfortunately, he’s learning the hard way. But I’m OK with it.”
“It’s just, you don’t want to see your kid suffer, but I know it’s good,” she continued. “And I’d rather him be there than dead, you know?”
Mary then shared why she hasn’t visited him.
“I can’t go to the jail, Andy. That’s a little weird. I don’t want to look at my child behind a glass,” she said. “He calls me every day. I’m basically preaching to him. I’m like, ‘You’re going through this, but you have to realize that God is allowing it, and if God allowed it, then it’s for your good. This will help you to change, and you gotta change.’”
She said her husband, Robert Cosby Sr., also hasn’t yet visited him, but he’s sending “a lot of books.”
