ICE agents in Minnesota arrested three employees after eating lunch at a Mexican restaurant in Willmar, with a second incident occurring at a restaurant in Circle Pines.

On January 14, four ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) officers entered Mexican restaurant El Tapatio, in Willmar, around 3 p.m., only to return hours later, as the restaurant had closed. Witnesses told the Minnesota Star Tribune that when the agents arrived the first time, the staff felt terribly scared.
During the agents’ second visit, around 8:30 p.m., they detained three employees. Witnesses said the officers followed the employees upon closing the Mexican restaurant. Witnesses yelled at the agents, demanding to know, “Would your momma be proud of you right now?”

Incidents like this continue to happen around Minnesota. A day before ICE agents arrested three employees in Willmar, agents arrested a worker in Circle Pines. On January 13, two plainclothes ICE agents sat in the parking lot of Pancho’s Taqueria and Mexican Cafe.
According to the restaurant’s owner, Stacey Chase, via a GoFundMe, the agents “sat in the lot for 20 minutes watching people go in and out of the building.” One of those people to enter and exit was a staff member named Kevin, who Chase said is in the United States legally with a work permit.

Chase said, “Kevin walked out the back door to take out the trash and access the storage unit. These two men entered the storage unit and dragged him out. You can view the video and try to forget his screams for help. In the struggle, he left behind his phone, his glasses, and his hat.”
Chase said Kevin has a wife and small children that they hoping to look after with funds from the GoFundMe campaign, along with directing the funds to legal fees.
