Legendary Hellboy creator Mike Mignola is reuniting with acclaimed writer Thomas E. Sniegoski and renowned artist Craig Rousseau for a brand-new adventure from Hellboy’s youth. Written by Mignola and Sniegoski, with art from Rousseau, colors by Chris O’Halloran, and letters from Clem Robins, Young Hellboy: Thrilling Sky Adventures will be a fun-filled four-issue miniseries starring Young Hellboy and his hero Scarlett Santiago. Each issue will feature covers by Rousseau and a variant cover. Issue #1 will feature a variant cover drawn by David Hitchcock and a Blank ‘Sketch Variant’ cover.

Fans first met the swashbuckling airborne adventurer Scarlett Santiago in Mignola, Sniegoski, and Rousseau’s 2021 Young Hellboy: The Hidden Land, when she helped Hellboy and Professor Bruttenholm navigate an island of mysterious monsters and vampires. Now the pulp-inspired hero stars in her very own comic book, and young Hellboy is still her number one fan. In this comic adventure within a comic adventure, Scarlett Santiago may have vanquished too many villains and made too many enemies to keep a low profile on the streets anymore. To keep herself safe and defeat the bad guys who are after her, she teams up with a mysterious, feline figure who has similar goals. The new heroic duo goes toe to toe with new dastardly foes in a series that’s sure to entertain Hellboy and Hellboy’s fans alike.

“Since wrapping up the Young Hellboy: The Hidden Land, I’d been thinking about Scarlett Santiago, the Sky Devil, and how much we still didn’t know about her past adventures (before being possessed by the spirit of a giant ape god),” Explains writer Thomas E. Sniegoski. “I was hoping that there would be a way to tell some of Sky Devil’s earlier exploits, and with Thrilling Sky Adventures, we’re getting to do just that.  The whole team has excitedly returned, Mike Mignola and I coming up with the story, Craig Rousseau on art, Chris O’Halloran on colors and Clem Robins doing the lettering.  The series is coming out great, and I can’t wait for folks to be immersed in its pulpy goodness!”

“Having the opportunity to work on more Young Hellboy is an absolute treat,” says artist Craig Rousseau. “It’s fun working with some of my all time favorite creative partners to expand on the story of Scarlett Santiago, Sky Devil and introduce The Ghost Leopard. Every script gets bigger and crazier and Tom and Mike know how to write some wild pulpy adventure to expand her backstory (and getting me to draw gangsters, biplanes, wild animals, crazy monsters and so much more). Speaking of which, back to the drawing board!”

Praise for Young Hellboy

“A loving tribute to the pulp adventure stories of the 1930s.”―FORBES

“Totally fun.”―COMICS BEAT

“Young Hellboy: The Hidden Land has all the things you really want from a Mignola comic: Hellboy being sassy, danger overcome in unexpected ways, giant monsters, giant gorillas, plus a healthy serving of new characters, unexpected additions like dinosaurs, and perhaps a tie into the larger world (that remains to be seen, just my theory for now). … The most exhilarating thing about the Young Hellboy series though is the artwork by Craig Rousseau.”—COMICBOOK.COM

“Intriguing.”―SYFY WIRE

“Packs a lot of punch from a mysterious island, vampire queens, dinosaurs, giant ape gods, and the Sky Devil herself.”—AIPT

“A delightful throwback to globe-trotting adventure films, mixed with the supernatural elements that have come to define the Hellboy mythos. It’s also easily accessible to new readers and a deeper exploration of Hellboy’s life for longtime fans.”—BUT WHY THO

“It’s King Kong style fun!”—MONKEYS FIGHTING ROBOTS

“Thomas Sniegoski and Mike Mignola are clearly having a blast with this one, and their joy is our gain. Young Hellboy is a rip-roaring fun time, hitting all the right notes of a world-hopping pulp adventure.”—THE PULL BOX

“I can imagine it being performed on the radio back in the 1940s, popping off the pages of a John Carter book, or coming to life in a Howling Commandos comic. The joy is in which terrible thing our characters will come across next and how they will get out of it.  This is a really great way to introduce Hellboy to younger readers! The script is fast paced, and the art is a lot of fun.”— FANBASE PRESS

“Delightful.”—GEEK DAD

“A vibrant and wonderful comic – an issue that left me with a smile on my face.”―FLICKERING MYTH

“I am an unabashed Hellboy fan. I love it. The mythology that Mignola created is in my top favorite media creations. So, when I say that this comic is good, I mean it.  It easily stacks up to all the other Hellboy I’ve read. You don’t lose anything by reading about him as a youngster. In fact, you get a bit more extra sass, and giant crabs!”—FANGIRL NATION

“Shares a lot of its DNA with adventures like Flash Gordon, Indiana Jones, and Tarzan. There’s an aspect where it doesn’t take itself too seriously and knows exactly what it wants to be and that’s a lot of fun.”―GRAPHIC POLICY

“Craig Rousseau’s art style is perfect for YOUNG HELLBOY… Rousseau’s expressive faces and the fluidity of movement helps drive the action and excitement.”— CONSKIPPER

“Hellboy’s younger years are fertile storytelling ground.”—BIFF BAM POP

“Thrilling.”—SUPER POWERED FANCAST

“Wonderful.”—IMPULSE GAMER

“Mignola, Sniegoski, and the rest of the team have crafted a young adult Hellboy story that is candy for my soul.”— FANBASE PRESS
