Kim Kardashian addressed the rumors that she’s no longer friends with Jonathan Cheban.
During the Wednesday, January 21, episode of the “Khloé in Wonder Land” podcast, Kim, 45, shared a story with sister Khloé Kardashian about Cheban, 51, saying, “That was crazy. I love Jonathan. We should call him.”
Kim noted that she was surprised by recent speculation that they “don’t talk.” She subsequently got Cheban on the phone and they reminisced about their time in Hollywood before the reality star became a household name.
After ending the call with Cheban, Kim shared further insight about their friendship.
“Jonathan and I are good. Here’s the thing, I had kids,” Kim, who shares kids North, 12, Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 6, with ex-husband Kanye West, explained. “It’s really hard to maintain friendships when you have kids and you’re like in it.”
She continued: “Jonathan is not going to come and sit around Calabasas all day. He’s like always on the move.”
Khloé, 41, agreed with Kim, adding, “Especially when someone else doesn’t have kids. It’s not like you can do play dates with your kids. I get that — and we love Jonathan. There’s so much history there.”
Cheban previously clarified where he and Kim stand after catching wind of the speculation.
“People post me in things and people say that Kim and I aren’t friends anymore and it’s so funny to watch this stuff ‘cause we are friends and we talk all the time,” he exclusively told Us Weekly in March 2025. “I see all these things that pop up and that’s how I know if I’m on [episodes of The Kardashians] or not.”
Cheban said he and Kim are “absolutely” still close even if they keep their bond out of the public eye. “We’re going to be friends forever — and it’s fun,” he said. “I mean, she’s got so many kids and so many things to do and I’m all the way on this coast, so it’s like, yeah, we don’t see each other as much, but we talk all the time and anything happens that I feel like we should discuss, we just send it right away.”
At the time, Cheban pointed out that his move to New York shifted his dynamic with Kim — who resides in Los Angeles — a little.
“This is pretty iconic,” he told Us about relocating to the East Coast. “I’m moving back to New York after five years. I’m so excited to be here, this is awesome.”
