A man is in jail after authorities say he broke into a family’s home and falsely claimed to be an ICE agent in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
According to WPXI, the incident occurred on Saturday when 35-year-old William Arthur Gregory allegedly entered a residence by climbing through a kitchen window. Once inside the home, authorities say Gregory walked upstairs shouting that he was an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent and demanded that the occupants provide their paperwork.
Police say the family inside the home included a teenage boy, who became the primary target of the suspect during the encounter.
Authorities Say Teen Was Threatened During Attempted Theft
According to investigators, Gregory allegedly threatened to stab the teenage boy while attempting to steal the teen’s PlayStation and its controllers. Police also report that Gregory forcibly ripped the boy’s cellphone out of his hand during the confrontation. A physical altercation then occurred between Gregory and the teen. Authorities say the teenager punched Gregory in the face, knocking him unconscious.
When officers arrived on the scene, Gregory was reportedly still unconscious inside the home.
Suspect Found Intoxicated With Prior Warrants
Police say Gregory appeared to be intoxicated at the time of his arrest and was reportedly foaming at the mouth, which authorities believe was due to him being under the influence of drugs.
Detectives also noted that this was not Gregory’s first run-in with law enforcement. According to police, he has multiple outstanding warrants stemming from previous burglary cases. Gregory was taken into custody and remains jailed as the investigation continues. Additional charges may be forthcoming.
