He-Man is back and better than ever! Fans have their first trailer for the upcoming live-action reboot of the Masters of the Universe series.
He-Man is one of those IPs that has been left dormant for quite some time. While the Masters of the Universe dominated the airwaves back in the 80s, an absolutely disastrous live-action film with Dolph Lundgren as Prince Adam basically buried all hope for the franchise to expand beyond the small screen, relegated to short-lived reboot after short-lived reboot.
Hope for He-Man was found back in 2022, when it was announced that Netflix would be developing a new live-action film based on the Masters of the Universe. And after a year of development and $30 million spent, the reboot was officially killed by the studio. Luckily, the project was bought by Amazon MGM a few months later, and reworked into the project whose trailer we have today.
He-Man Brings The Power!
Yesterday, a teaser dropped to hype fans up for the full Masters of the Universe trailer that was released today. Reactions were…mixed, to say the least. Many fans were excited to see He-Man finally back in live-action, while others worried the reboot’s casting decisions would leave a lot to be desired. But with the full trailer here, fans can judge for themselves whether it lives up to the hype:
The trailer only showed fans a fraction of what’s likely in store when Masters of the Universe finally hits theaters. However, it does seem to be earnestly trying to blend the sincerity of a character like Prince Adam with the blood-pumping action expected from a character like He-Man in the modern age of tentpole blockbusters.
Masters of the Universe is set to release June 5, 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news on the upcoming film, and subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
