Is Jensen Ackles the perfect pick for Batman? The Supernatural star speaks on potentially joining the DC Universe as his dream role.
There’s been a lot of discussion about who should take on the role of the DC Universe’s Caped Crusader. One could throw a stone and concuss at least three stars aspiring to make their mark on the Dark Knight’s legacy. Some of the most popular in recent months include Brendan Sklenar, Jonathan Bailey, Alan Ritchson, and, of course, Glen Powell.
However, one of the most well-trodden fancasts for Batman spans long before the current incarnation of the DC Universe was even a thought in James Gunn’s mind. That being Supernatural and The Boys star Jensen Ackles, an actor whom fans have been begging to put on the pointed cowl for well over a decade.
Is Jensen Ackles Playing Batman?
The topic of potentially playing Batman came up once more during Jensen Ackles’ recent appearance at the “The Road So Far…The Road Ahead” convention in Las Vegas (via ComicBookMovie.com). When speaking on a potential dream role, the Supernatural star once more expressed his interest in making a grand return to the DC Universe as the Hammer of Justice.
“There are probably a few [dream roles]. Yes, somebody up here yelled Batman. Yes, that is certainly a dream role. I mean, I’ve got a few go-tos: Batman, Wyatt Earp, Robin Hood, that kind of stuff.”
Jensen Ackles is no stranger to the DC Universe, as many fans likely know. During his time on Supernatural, the actor lent his voice to many animated adaptations of the comics. Perhaps the most well-known is his role as Jason Todd in Under The Red Hood, but he also took on the voice of Batman himself in the Tomorrowverse continuity of animated films.
Batman: The Brave and The Bold is currently in development at DC Studios. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe!
