Maxima is making her way to the DC Universe! A rumor suggests that Man of Tomorrow is looking to add a classic Superman villain to its cast.

For months, the talk of the town when it came to Man of Tomorrow was speculation about who would play Wonder Woman. This stemmed from James Gunn looking to cast a woman in the Superman sequel, with the rumor mill immediately jumping to that woman being Diana Prince. Yet with that theory now debunked, speculation has mounted once more about who it could be.

Luckily, it seems the rumor mill only gets the “right” information mere moments after their wrong information gets debunked. Nexus Point News reports that James Gunn is currently looking to cast Maxima in Man of Tomorrow, with her serving as the secondary villain to Superman alongside Brainiac in the DC Universe film.

Who Is Maxima?

Maxima is a complicated character to talk about when it comes to the DC Universe, namely because every time she appears the writers just try something brand new with her. Broadly, she is the Warrior Queen of a planet called Almerac who became infatuated with Superman during her adventures, her love turning her into an on-again-off-again villain for the Man of Tomorrow.

When it comes to Man of Tomorrow as a film, it’s likely that James Gunn is taking inspiration from the Panic in the Sky storyline, where she teamed up with Braniac to destroy Earth. However, by the end of the comic, she turns against the villain and helps the heroes save the planet by taking down the mechanized Warworld.

Man of Tomorrow flies into theaters July 9th, 2027. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe!
