An X-Force Marvel movie has been a rumor swirling around the fanbase for years now. Especially since vague details emerged around a new Ryan Reynolds Marvel movie, which we were told would pair Deadpool with several members of the X-Men.
Without much to go on, fans speculated that this could be an X-Force flick, and a new rumor supports that idea.
Industry scooper Daniel Richtman has reported that Marvel Studios is moving forward with X-Force. This is presumably the same project that Reynolds is working on.
So how will this fit into Marvel Studios’ wider plans for the X-Men? It’s been reported that a new MCU will be created in the wake of Avengers: Secret Wars, serving as a soft reboot for the franchise. It’s possible that the Multiverse will still exist and that X-Force would play out in a parallel reality.
It’s no secret that the studio has big plans for the X-Men. If the team is already established when we meet them, it would arguably be easy enough to explain X-Force’s presence in the MCU.
It will be cool to see what they do with these characters in Marvel’s Phase 6 and beyond.
