Sinners continues to break records this awards season.

The Hollywood Reporter received confirmation on Wednesday that Ryan Coogler set a new BAFTA record this week as his vampire horror became the most-nominated film by a Black director in the British Academy’s history.

The news comes hot on the heels of Sinners‘ Academy record — last week the Warner Bros. feature earned the most Oscar nominations ever with an eye-watering 16. THR took a look at how duo Wunmi Mosaku and Delroy Lindo saved the Brits from their first Oscars shut-out in 40 years by securing acting nominations.

And as the BAFTA nods poured in this week, the movie racked up an impressive 13 in total, just one behind its Warner Bros. stablemate One Battle After Another. Sinners earned BAFTA Film Awards nominations for best director (Coogler), leading actor (Michael B. Jordan), supporting actress (Wunmi Mosaku), original screenplay, casting, cinematography, editing, original score, costume design, make-up & hair, production design, and sound.

The record comes as BAFTA continues to improve its diversity outreach — 25 percent of nominated films this year were directed by women (Hamnet‘s Chloe Zhao took another record for the most-nominated movie by a female filmmaker).

That stat and the Sinners success is a stark contrast to even six years ago, when no women were nominated as a best director for the BAFTA Film Awards for the seventh year in a row, and all 20 nominees in the lead and supporting acting categories were white.

It means Sinners and One Battle After Another will go head-to-head at the BAFTA Film Awards on Feb. 22.

Elsewhere, Chloé Zhao’s Shakespearean heartbreaker and Josh Safdie’s ping-pong caper Marty Supreme earned 11 BAFTA nods each. They were followed by Joachim Trier’s drama Sentimental Value and Guillermo del Toro’s gothic epic Frankenstein earned eight BAFTA noms each, and Yorgos Lanthimos’ black comedy Bugonia and Kirk Jones’ Tourette Syndrome advocate dramedy I Swear received five each.
