Well Go USA has unleashed the first teaser trailer for Blades of the Guardians, and if you’re even remotely into martial arts cinema, this one hits fast and hard.
This is the latest feature from legendary action filmmaker Yuen Woo-ping, the master choreographer and director whose fingerprints are all over classics like Drunken Master, Iron Monkey, and the revolutionary fight work in The Matrix and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. It’s also his first new directing effort since Master Z: Ip Man Legacy back in 2018.
The trailer features snow-covered battlefields, brutal close-quarters combat, fights in a sandstorm, and massive clashes staged in harsh environments. This movie seriously looks badass!
From all this first look footage it seems like we’ve got another awesome martial arts to enjoy! I’m loving the energy of it!
The story centers on Dao Ma, played by Wu Jing, who is known throughout the land as the “second most wanted fugitive.” He’s tasked with an escort mission that’s anything but simple.
His assignment is to safely deliver the “most wanted fugitive” Di Ting, portrayed by Nicholas Tse, to Chang’an. The job comes from Dao Ma’s benefactor, the chief of the Mo family clan, and it quickly turns into a violent, sprawling journey across dangerous terrain filled with enemies who want them dead.
The film is based on the popular manhua by Xianzhe Xu. The screenplay comes from Chao-Bin Su and Larry Yang, and the movie is backed by Damai Entertainment alongside Beijing Dengfeng International Culture Communications Company and Woo Ping Pictures.
The cast includes Yu Shi, Chen Lijun, Sun Yizhou, Ci Sha, Li Yunxiao, Tony Leung Ka-fai, Zhang Jin, Kara Wai, Zhang Yi, and Jet Li.
It’s clear the film is aiming to give audiences a awesome big screen experience. Big locations, relentless choreography, and practical intensity that feels refreshingly physical. I’m excited to watch this in theaters!
Well Go USA will release Blades of the Guardians in select US theaters starting February 17th, 2026.
