The title of this month’s update is a misnomer, because there aren’t three new Netflix shows with at least 90 percent on Rotten Tomatoes in January.

Instead, there’s only a single show that broke that mark this month.

In the meantime, Watch With Us will throw the spotlight on Netflix’s single show that reached 90 percent and the two that came closest to matching it.

Does Netflix ever take a break? The popular streamer just capped 2025 with its big Stranger Things send-off, but it’s already lining up some of its biggest shows and movies of 2026 in January. At the top of the list is Bridgerton, which returns for a fourth season filled with drama, scandal and impeccably tailored […]

‘Southland’ (2009 – 2013)

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 90 percent

If you’ve been on the lookout for a police procedural drama to watch, Netflix has a great one on tap. Southland has some of the grittiness of The Shield, minus the rampant corruption and cop-on-cop murders. This series primarily focuses on Officer Ben Sherman (Ben McKenzie) as he navigates the mean streets of Los Angeles while juggling his personal issues. Ben’s training officer, John Cooper (Michael Cudlitz), also gets a lot of focus as a man who has buried his secrets out of fear that they could impact his standing with other cops.

This show takes a character-first approach to storytelling, and it has a fantastic supporting cast including Regina King, Shawn Hatosy, Kevin Alejandro, Michael McGrady and Tom Everett Scott. Southland has been off the air for over a decade, but we’ll be shocked if it doesn’t find a new generation of viewers. This is the kind of series that’s perfect for binge-watchers.

Southland will stream on Netflix on January 16.

‘Land of Sin’ (2026)

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 86 percent

There are a couple of “Nordic noir” series that have picked up traction on Netflix, including the recently released Land of Sin, which has broken into the top 10 shows. Krista Kosonen leads the cast as Dani Anttila, a detective in Malmö, Sweden. Dani has her hands full trying to get her teenage son, Oliver (Cesar Matijasevic), to go into drug rehab while dealing with her new partner, Malik (Mohammed Nour Oklah).

TNT used to market itself as the home of drama, but that’s a tagline that more convincingly describes Netflix now. Still, it’s somewhat fitting that a TNT original series, The Closer, is now one of the most popular dramas on Netflix. Thank You! You have successfully subscribed. Dani’s personal and professional worlds collide when her former foster son, Silas Duncke (Alexander Persson), is found murdered. It’s already an ethical quagmire to let Dani anywhere near this case, but the search for the murder suspect hits her pretty close to home. Malik isn’t making anything easier on Dani with his by-the-book approach, since she’s not above breaking some rules to get answers.

Land of Sin is streaming on Netflix.

‘Bridgerton’ (2020 – Present)

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 84 percent

Netflix’s smash hit period romance series Bridgerton is returning for a new season near the end of this month. Penelope Bridgerton (Nicola Coughlan) may have outed herself as Lady Whistledown in season 3, but that doesn’t mean her alter ego (voiced by the legendary Julie Andrews) won’t be making a comeback at the request of Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel). There’s a new social season ahead, and plenty of gossip to spread.

This season will focus on the romance between Penelope’s brother-in-law, Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson), and a new face in the ton, Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha). Their attraction is obvious from the start, but there are always romantic complications in Bridgerton. This season is being split into two parts, with the remaining episodes set to arrive near the end of February.

Bridgerton seasons 1 – 3 are streaming on Netflix. Season 4, part 1 is now available to watch.
