Despite past commentary during her beef with California Governor Gavin Newsom, Nicki Minaj is insisting that she is not transphobic and actually the “biggest advocate” for adults doing whatever they want. However, she is against trans children getting surgery.

While a good portion of her fanbase consists of members of the LGBTQ+ community, Minaj, born Onika Maraj, has left her entire base, known as The Barbz, feeling slighted and betrayed as she pledges allegiance to President Donald Trump, his administration, and their associates, like Turning Point USA CEO Erika Kirk.
In November, Minaj began ramping up her public support for President Trump. Taking up for him on X (formerly Twitter), appearing at a United Nations event, where she gave a speech, and speaking at a TPUSA event in December.
Then, in January, Minaj appeared at Trump’s Trump Accounts summit and then trolled several deportation petitions as she finalized her United States citizenship paperwork. The “Super Bass” rapper, born in Trinidad and Tobago, thanked Trump for helping her become a legal and permanent resident.

As Minaj grows closer to Trump, she’s also been taking shots at his enemies, like California Governor Gavin Newsom, and more. In December, Minaj came for Newsom, whom she dubs “Gavin Newsum,” after he shared his controversial stance on transgender athletes participating in sports. While speaking on the ‘Ezra Klein Show,’ one line from his comments went mega-viral. He said:
“We didn’t get into trans sports. That’s an issue no one wants to hear about because 80% of people listening disagree with my position on this, but it comes from my heart. Not just my head. It wasn’t a political evolution. I don’t think it’s fair.
I want to see trans kids, I have a trans godson. There’s no governor that signed more pro-trans legislation than I have, and no one’s been a stronger advocate for the LGBTQ [community]. You have to accommodate the reality of those whose rights are being taken away as we advance the rights of the trans community, in terms of the fairness of athletic competition. That’s not a bigoted position.”
Minaj began trolling Newsom on X and during her days-long rant, she shared her honest thoughts on the transgender community.

Nicki Minaj Rejects Critics Labeling Her Transphobic
Since then, Nicki Minaj has clarified her views on the transgender community. While appearing on the February 3 episode of ‘The Katie Miller Podcast,’ Minaj insisted that she is not transphobic, just against adults allowing transgender children to undergo gender-affirming surgery (GAS).
Host Katie Miller asked:
“What is some of the policies in California, given you’ve spent a lot of time there, that makes you think Gavin Newsom is ‘Gavin Newscum?’ Is it the mass amount of illegal immigration and tax dollars being spent for legal aid and health care? Is it the failure to rebuild homes in the Palisades? Is it just pro-trans ideology and pushing that on kids in schools? What stands out the most to you?”
Nicki Minaj replied:
“I’m glad you asked that because I want to make it clear, I personally don’t have an issue with the trans part of the LGBT, at all. I am the biggest advocate for adults being able to do whatever the heck they want to do. They’re adults. I don’t care.
I only mentioned something because when it comes to children, I wouldn’t even allow my 17-year-old daughter to get breast implants. And most, 99% of the parents would not let their 17-year-old child get breast implants.
So, if you wouldn’t let a child get breast implants, you’re not going to want them to have any kind of surgery because we all know the brain is not developed. And we’ve heard [they are] 19 times more likely to commit suicide. What more do you need to know that a child is 19 times more likely to commit suicide if they have a surgery before they’re an adult?
So, I just wanted to make that clear because, you know, of course, I don’t judge, you know, adults, you know, they can do whatever they want.
With Newscum, it’s the fact that with everything you said, but then having the audacity to be playing on Twitter, obsessed with Trump, trying to be Trump, trying to be funny when it’s not, and then wanting to roll around in the mud with female rappers, or whomever, and completely missing the plot. We would never want someone like that to be our president. Americans are so big on loyalty. And that just showed us all you do not have a loyal bone in your body and no one is going to vote for you.”
