Available June 3 in comic shops!

This June, celebrate love with Dark Horse Comics and Tiny Onion’s newest one-shot, Monsters in Love: A Pride Anthology!

This anthology includes ten new standalone stories blending horror and romance in the style of classic EC Comics anthologies by fan-favorite LGBTQIA+ creators, including James Tynion IV (Something is Killing the Children, The Nice House by the Sea), Tate Brombal (Everything Dead & Dying, House of Slaughter), Jadzia Axelrod (The DC Book of Pride, Galaxy: The Prettiest Star), Vita Ayala (Finders//Keepers, Submerged), Zoe Tunnell (Blaide Maidens, Godzilla: Valentine’s Day Special), Josh Trujillo (DC Pride: The Heart Wants, Blue Beetle), Lee Knox Ostetag (The Deep Dark, The Girl from the Sea), Kenny Wroten (Everyone Sux But You, Eden II), Jacoby Salcedo (Frontera, This Land is Our Land: A Blue Beetle Story), Lilah Sturges (Blue Beetle: Jaime Reyes, Dune: The Official Movie Graphic Novel), Vash Taylor (Midst: Ripples, Galaxy: The Prettiest Star), and more. This super-sized special also includes a framing story by the three-time GLAAD Media Award-nominated creative team of The Oddly Pedestrian Life of Christopher Chaos. Finally, the one-shot will feature three covers by V. Gagnon, Bradley Clayton, and Rian Sygh and a back-cover by Isaac Goodhart and Miquel Muerto.

Some of the creators were able to share their excitement for the one-shot as well:

James Tynion IV: “Love takes many shapes, and so do monsters. I’m thrilled that Tiny Onion can present Monsters in Love: A Pride Anthology this June for Pride Month with Dark Horse. These ten stories represent some of the most exciting creators in the industry as well as the love and hope we need now more than ever.”

Jadzia Axelrod: “My story, Every Witch Way, is illustrated by Bailie Rosenlund, takes the classic trans person fear of ‘what if I transition and nobody likes me anymore?’ and turns it on its head. What if you transitioned and were such an incredible smoke show that you started to give your best friend feelings she didn’t know she had? So often we see witches in fiction using magic to make themselves hot as a sign of their descent into evil, but what if that is just self-care? Better living through sorcery. And if it gets you a gay make-out in the bargain, so much the better!”

Lilah Sturges: “I am, of course, thrilled to be working with Tiny Onion and the Monsters in Love one-shot is a perfect showcase for the kind of story I like to tell. It’s fun and dark and tongue-in-cheek, but it also says a little something about the way that queer communities can form as pearls from the sand grains of heteronormativity. Honestly, though, the main attraction for me is getting to work with Vash Taylor, whose elegant, distinctive style is a real gift to comics!”

Tate Brombal: “Christopher Chaos has always been a book about outsiders finding each other in friendship, in found family, and in love. It has often been inspired by the very real friendship and love of our entire creative team, so when we first introduced the Monsters in Love backup comics…it just made sense. It was a chance for our family to grow and evolve and spotlight such incredible talent. Now Christopher is taking the backseat as Monsters in Love officially grows up and becomes its fully formed self. I feel so honored to play even a minor role in this collection of love.”

Isaac Goodhart: “I am so unbelievably honored to share a comic with some of the most unique and talented voices I have ever seen in comics. Monsters in Love was always meant to showcase and elevate new voices and I’m grateful to be a part of it. The past few years working on Christopher Chaos with my friends has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. We poured everything we’ve got into these pages.”

Lee Knox Ostertag: “‘Monsters in Love’ is a theme I could make comics about until the heat death of the universe. I’m really excited to be a part of this project!”

Monsters in Love: A Pride Anthology one-shot arrives in comic shops on June 3, 2026 and is now available for pre-order from your local comic shop for $9.99.

Praise for The Oddly Pedestrian Life of Christopher Chaos:

“The first issue is a perfect setup for a horror comic that struggles with the loneliness of feeling like an outsider.”—Fangoria

“Full of detail, life, death, and, at times, whimsy. It’s a book about growing up, taking chances, love, loss, mortality, and morality”—The Convention Collective

“Simply put, this is the type of book that will remind you why you check out new monthly comics. The idea is clever and odd, the execution equally so, and the visuals fantastic, with clean and polished linework complimented perfectly by the letters and colors.”—Comics Beat

“The Oddly Pedestrian Life of Christopher Chaos #1 stands tall as an engaging opening to a story rife with whimsy and charm. It contains enough narrative richness within its moments of open table setting to act as both an excellent standalone tale, as well as the first chapter in an expectedly great series.”—Comic Watch

“The weird mixture of horror, science fiction, and coming-of-age drama somehow works together beautifully. The horror elements are genuinely scary, the science fiction elements are interesting and thought-provoking, and the coming-of-age drama is touching and relatable.”—Capes & Tights
