On Netflix’s Age of Attraction, real people are hoping to find The One — no matter how far apart they are in age.
The new dating show, which premiered March 11, is hosted by real-life couple Nick Viall and Natalie Joy, who have their own 18-year age gap. According to the official synopsis, “age is thrown out the window when singles search for their soulmates, but will the years come between them?”
While reflecting on his decision to cohost the show, Nick opened up about the pair’s relationship to E! News. “When we first met, I had a lot of nervousness, and reservations and fears about why we wouldn’t work, and I got in my head,” Nick said. “It was just about removing those fears, and not operating from a place of fear, but looking at what was great about our relationship.”
He continued: “We have so many great aspects of our relationship, and a lot of that came from us working through our own preconceived notions about why we might not work. We’re so glad that we did. With the relationship we have now and the family we have.”

Nick was excited about the possibility of pairing off singles ranging from age 22 to 59, noting that “getting rid of some of those preconceived notions and barriers” helps people focus on “compatibility.”
Natalie also acknowledged how her relationship with Nick has been “talked about,” adding, “This is something that, going into it — it’s a bright light on age differences and relationships of age differences.”
