A Nigerian woman has officially broken a long-standing record after spending 70 consecutive days counting out loud — reaching 1,070,000.
According to Oddity Central, Favour Ogechi Ani began her journey in October 2025 with one goal in mind: to surpass an 18-year-old Guinness World Record. The previous record stood at one million spoken numbers. She committed to counting aloud to 1,070,000. That meant long days, intense concentration, and complete mental discipline. Ani reportedly spent up to 14 hours a day counting numbers aloud.
“Honestly, it was tough, but my passion for counting kept me going,” Ani explained.
Live-Streaming the Record Attempt on YouTube
Ani did not complete this record in isolation. She live-streamed her daily counting sessions on YouTube. Viewers followed her progress as she worked toward the 1,070,000 mark.
She said her audience became a key source of motivation.
“The internal desire to break limits and achieve something extraordinary pushed me to break this record,” she added.
Why She Surpassed the Original 1,000,000 Mark
The original Guinness World Record required counting to one million out loud.
Ani intentionally pushed the number further. She extended it to 1,070,000, creating a wider gap between her achievement and the previous record. That extra 70,000 numbers meant additional hours of vocal and mental strain.
She described the final day as emotional but relieving.
