Marvel fans are still waiting for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 to hit Disney+, but the production on Born Again Season 3 is now underway. Now, Charlie Cox has revealed a detail that could be a major visual shift for the character.
A bearded Charlie Cox says he has begun filming Daredevil: Born Again Season 3
Filming for Daredevil Born Again Season 3 began this week on the streets of New York. The timing is impeccable as Season 2 doesn’t premiere until March 24 on Disney+, meaning Marvel seems to be already deep into the next one before audiences have even seen how the current one reels.
Charlie Cox himself confirmed the development during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where he showed up sporting a full beard from the set. “I finished shooting at 7 PM last night in New York on Season 3. I’m doing an action sequence, and I’m getting cut a lot [in the scene],” Cox told Kimmel.
For fans, the beard has been a point of speculation ever since Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio (Kingpin) began dodging questions about their facial hair during press rounds. Now that Cox has confirmed he was actively shooting Season 3 while bearded, fans are piecing together what this could mean for Matt Murdock’s appearance.
For answers, the comics offer a clear roadmap. During Chip Zdarsky’s acclaimed Daredevil run, Matt Murdock grew his facial hair while adopting a new costume and joining forces with Elektra to battle The Hand. The mystical ninja villains were recently seen in the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer, adding fuel to the theory that Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 may adapt this storyline.
Another possibility is that both Daredevil and Wilson Fisk could end up behind bars. Many fans believe Daredevil: Born Again is heading toward an incarceration arc in Season 3. It would naturally explain why both actors are sporting beards, which could be a sign of time served.
With filming just beginning, a Season 3 release date likely remains far off.
