Prime Video is doubling down on video game adaptations after the breakout success of Fallout, and one of its most anticipated projects is the upcoming Tomb Raider series.
With Sophie Turner stepping into the boots of Lara Croft, production is officially underway, and fans are already getting an early glimpse at how this version of the iconic adventurer is shaping up.
A recently surfaced set video, shared by the Infinity Tomb Raider account on X and originally captured by Daily Mail, gives us our first look at Turner’s Lara in motion.
The footage shows her fully in action, firing off Lara’s signature twin pistols at unseen enemies and casually tossing a grenade through a window to take out additional threats. It’s a quick tease, but it delivers exactly what fans want to see… Lara Croft doing what she does best.
Visually, this take on Lara already stands apart. Turner is outfitted in a more grounded, tactical look that feels far removed from the classic tank top and shorts combo longtime fans associate with the character.
It leans into a more modern, survival-driven aesthetic, suggesting this series may be aiming for a grittier, more practical interpretation of the world.
The show itself reimagines the legendary action-adventure franchise for television, with Turner playing Lara as an ambitious archaeologist driven by danger and discovery.
Surrounding her in the cast, we have Martin Bobb-Semple as Zip, Lara’s tech-savvy ally; Jason Isaacs as her uncle Atlas DeMornay; and Bill Paterson as Winston, the loyal Croft family butler. Sigourney Weaver also joins the series as Evelyn Wallis, a mysterious figure who sees something special in Lara.
The cast continues to expand with Jack Bannon, John Heffernan, Celia Imrie, Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, and August Wittgenstein.
Driving the creative vision is Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who serves as creator, writer, and executive producer. This marks her return to television following the success of Fleabag and Killing Eve.
With cameras rolling and action already spilling onto social media, Tomb Raider is clearly gearing up to deliver something fresh while still honoring the spirit of the franchise. The series is currently set to premiere on Prime Video in 2027.
