Is John Boyega making his grand return to the galaxy far, far away? The Star Wars actor teases that he may soon reprise his role as Finn.
Star Wars is in an odd place right now. Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy has recently stepped down to be replaced by longtime Star Wars helmer Dave Filoni. The franchise is also wrapping up its original trilogy nostalgia tour with The Mandalorian and Grogu, with future projects seeming to tee up a return to the sequel trilogy with Daisy Ridley’s Rey.
And given Rey is set to play a large part in at least one upcoming project, fans have been wondering if Daisy Ridley’s co-stars might also make a return. Most notably, there have been calls for John Boyega to reprise his role as Finn, with many Star Wars fans believing him to have gotten the short end of the stick during his original run as the character.
Is John Boyega Coming Back As Finn?
John Boyega recently made an appearance at Megacon in Orlando where, predictably, many of his questions were about his time in the Star Wars universe. At one point, a fan in the crowd remarked that he should get Dave Filoni on the phone, with the actor teasing his return as Finn by confirming that he already had called the Lucasfilm president.
This is pretty major news. John Boyega has been resistant about making a return as Finn in past interviews. But with his newfound zeal, and Dave Filoni’s propensity to bring back fan favorite characters from past Star Wars projects, it’s more likely than ever that the hopes of fans become a reality on the silver screen.
The Mandalorian and Grogu is set to land in theaters May 22, 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the Star Wars universe!
