Netflix expands its library with the addition of one of Focus Features‘ latest psychological drama films starring Academy Award winner Daniel Day-Lewis (Phantom Thread) as Ray. Beginning today, Day-Lewis’s 2025 acting comeback movie, Anemone, is officially available to stream on Netflix.
What do we know about Daniel Day-Lewis’s Anemone movie?
Anemone was directed by the acclaimed actor’s son, Ronan Day-Lewis, who also co-wrote the screenplay with his father. This served as the rising filmmaker’s feature-length directorial debut. Following its world premiere at the 2025 New York Film Festival, the film received mixed reviews from critics. It currently holds an approval rating of 52% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 143 reviews.
The cast also included Sean Bean (Game of Thrones) as Jem Stoker, Samantha Morton (The Walking Dead) as Nessa Stoker, Samuel Bottomley (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie) as Brian Stoker, Safia Oakley-Green (Out of Darkness) as Hattie, Paul Butterworth (The Full Monty) as Mr. Jarvis, JP Conway (The Sandman) as Martin, Adam Fogerty (Legend) as Des, Mark Holgate (Doctors) as Fred, and more.

The film was produced by Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner, with Daniel Day-Lewis and Brad Pitt serving as executive producers. The creative team also included director of photography Ben Fordesman, editor Nathan Nugent, and composer Bobby Krlic. Before his acting hiatus, Day-Lewis starred in Paul Thomas Anderson’s romantic period drama Phantom Thread. For his leading performance in the 2017 movie, he received multiple acting nominations, including an Oscar and Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor.
