TLC singer Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas is addressing all of the backlash she’s been receiving after reports broke claiming she reposted a Michelle Obama conspiracy and is a part of MAGA after sending several donations to President Donald Trump‘s campaign and GOP colleagues.

As we shared earlier, The Independent and Meidas News each reported that FEC records showed Chilli sending handfuls of donations to Trump’s campaign in 2024. The alleged list showed a Rozonda Thomas of Stone Mountain, Georgia offering nearly $1,000 in donations to Trump and other Trump/Republican-linked fundraising groups.
According to Meidas News, of the $900+ donated, about $800 went to Trump, about $7 went to Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, and $63 went to the NRSC (National Republican Senatorial Committee), which seeks to keep the GOP in control of Congress.
The FEC records showed Chilli allegedly donated $210.60 to WinRed, the payment processor for Republican campaign donations. She allegedly donated another $340.60 to the Trump National Committee JFC, and another $486.54 to Never Surrender Inc., a political fundraising group linked to Trump.

Furthermore, the FEC record reports surfaced as Chilli also drew attention for allegedly reposting a debunked conspiracy about Michelle Obama “registering to vote as a man in 1994, according to Illinois State Board of Elections.”
Since catching backlash, Chilli shared a video statement with TMZ to address all of the drama. While breaking her silence, Chilli insisted that her repost of Michelle Obama “registering to vote as a man” was completely accidental. She expressed her utmost love and respect for Michelle and former President Barack Obama.
As for the donations to Trump, Chilli insisted that any political donations she makes are meant to help veterans and help stop human trafficking. She claims her donations are not necessarily in support of the candidate, in this case, Trump. In her video she said:
“Hey guys, I wanted to come on here to address a few things that are circulating on the internet, that’s very concerning to me. Let me say this first, I have the utmost respect and admiration for Michelle Obama. And I would never say or do anything that is disrespectful to her or to any woman. I would never do that. And I had no clue that this repost had happened until I started getting phone calls and text messages from everybody and I immediately went to my page to see what was going on.
Now mind you, I’m not very computer-savvy, so I’m looking for this repost button. And I see that all of them, all of these buttons are very, very close to each other. And clearly, I was scrolling and my thumb hit the repost button. Again, I had no clue that something like this happened until I got all the calls. But of course, I took that down.
And you know, I would never post anything like that. I would never do something like that. That is not my character. I have supported The Obamas. I gave to the campaign, both runs, voted twice for him, and supported the organization that Michelle had in the schools for exercise for the kids. I would never do anything that’s harmful or hateful to anybody. I’m just not wired like that. That is—that’s just not who I am.
And when it comes to organizations that I have donated to, these are the things that support the veterans. I have always supported them, not just now, but for years. This is not something new. So, I just wanted to let you guys know, you know, this from me, you know, that I would never do anything so disrespectful and I would just never, I’m just not about hate or anything like that.
If you look, look on my page and see my post, it’s all about love, faith and connection. That’s what I’m all about, you know, and I’ve always been that way, and I will continue to be just that way. So, I just want to thank you guys for, your love and your support, and just taking the time to listen to me right now. I really, really appreciate that. And I love you guys. Thank you so much.”

Chilli continued to clarify her political stance as she posted another statement, this time written on her Instagram feed. The statement read:
“I WANT TO BE CLEAR:
I am not MAGA and do not support any of the many policies that are causing great harm to the American people. I made a mistake too many make: 1 did not read the fine print. I thought I was supporting causes against human trafficking and for veterans, two things I care deeply about as my dad is a veteran and everyone knows I love children. I have learned a valuable lesson and ask for grace as I navigate this. Love, Chilli 💕.”
