There’s a trope popularised by the movie Die Hard, which switched up the book it was based on. The novel, Nothing Lasts Forever, saw the bad guys as actual terrorists, the movie made them thieves posing as terrorists, because they knew that the official FBI response to a terrorist hostage situation would be to cut the power, which is what they needed to happen to break into the vault. The plan was reliant on the official response to the plan, in order to succeed. Now Magneto has clearly seen Die Hard, and moreover has been around for a very long time, and has seen it all. And I don’t just mean the sequels. In X-Men #26, it didn’t go well for Glob.
And in X-Men #27, we found out just who was behind it. A fellow known as Colton, who knows what fear lies within the hearts of men.
One of the new Danger Room individuals with specific skills, recruited to take down the X-Men with limited, precise moves.
And in X-Men #28 out today, Magneto at least knows what is going on.
With Magneto having a more of a perspective, even if he remains a killer at heart…
Even if no one seems that keen on listening to him right now.
