A sequel to The Devil Wears Prada is coming this year, first revealed in July 2024, so best prepare and gird your loins.
The original film was based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel of the same name, following Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway), a journalism graduate who moved to New York City and lands a very demanding job as junior assistant to Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly, editor-in-chief of Runway, a high-fashion magazine.

The fashion sequel film will hit theaters on May 1, 2026, the original release date for Marve’s Avengers: Doomsday.

Who will be in The Devil Wears Prada 2?
Core four stars Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci are officially returning for the sequel. Kenneth Branagh will join to portray the husband of Streep’s character Miranda Priestly, an intense fashion magazine editor.

Deadline exclusively broke the news of Simone Ashley’s casting in the second film. Variety exclusively reported the casting of Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak and Pauline Chalamet.
Deadline also exclusively reported that Rachel Bloom and Patrick Brammall have joined the sequel. Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman will also reprise their roles from the original. Lady Gaga, who has an original song titled “Runway” with Doechii in the film as unveiled in the third and final trailer, will appear in the movie as well.
What will The Devil Wears Prada 2 be about?
The film is expected to feature Miranda Priestly’s (Meryl Streep) perspective as the fierce editor-in-chief faces the decline of the print industry. As of the final trailer, it seems a scandal involving Runway magazine is afoot, and Andy has been recruited as a new features editor to help steer away from that.
Who else is behind The Devil Wears Prada 2?
Aline Brosh McKenna, the scribe behind the first film, will return to pen the screenplay for the sequel. When Deadline first confirmed the sequel in development, we were told that the original film’s director David Frankel was in talks to return as well, and that original original producer Wendy Finerman would also be back.
Is there a trailer for The Devil Wears Prada 2?
A small teaser trailer was released Nov. 12. A full teaser was released Jan. 31 during the 2026 Grammy Awards. The third and final trailer arrived April 6.
