Could Glen Powell be gearing up to join the DC Universe? The Top Gun: Maverick and Anyone but You star recently revealed the one superhero he’d be willing to don a cape and cowl for.
Glen Powell has quickly become one of the hottest commodities in Hollywood. With hits like Top Gun: Maverick and Anyone But You under his belt, it seems everyone wants a piece of the rising star. This includes comic book fans, who have been speculating non-stop about what roles he could play in the Marvel and DC Universe.
Speculation came to an abrupt halt when a recent report by THR indicated that Glen Powell had no interest in portraying a superhero. This disheartened many fans who wanted to see him take on a specific role. However, when asked about this in a further profile by GQ, Powell admitted there was one exception in the DC Universe.
Glen Powell Reveals His DC Universe Sweetspot
While touring the GQ profiler across the backlot of Warner Bros. studios, Glen Powell opened up about his thoughts on playing a superhero. He admitted that he had no interest in putting on the spandex, with the exception of perhaps the most well-known hero in the DC Universe: Batman. Though, according to Powell, it’d likely be closer to Michael Keaton’s take on the character than anything else.
“I was always a Batman guy,” Powell explained. “I would have a wild take on Batman. It definitely would not be like a Matt Reeves tone – it’d probably be closer to [Michael] Keaton.”
It’s interesting that Glen Powell would drop Michael Keaton’s name specifically when talking about his potential role as Batman in the DC Universe. Keaton infamously mixed grounded storytelling with the wackiness of comic books. So even though Powell has no plans to play a costumed hero anytime soon, it may just be a matter of finding him the right script!
