Following profoundly heavy guest spots with Bad Omens and Knocked Loose, post-genre shapeshifter Poppy has returned with a brand-new single called “New Way Out” that gets more than a little introspective.
A press release explains that the song hits on a “message of self-growth and pulling oneself back from the edge,” and you can definitely get that from the sung-and-screamed energy Poppy pushes into the piece.

Supported by hard mechano-swing synth lines, chunked-up industrial-pop riffs and hard-edged snare hits, she contorts her vocal cords around themes of being chased by “demons” and being pushed around by circumstance, but also of persevering through a personal reckoning, though only if “you’re strong enough to lead it.”
In other news, Poppy is gearing up for a summer tour with 30 Seconds to Mars, which has her opening a string of arena dates between late July and early September. You’ll find the full range of dates here.
