During the sentencing hearing for Demonte Jackson, the 20-year-old man who pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery, Bun B, also known as Bernard Freeman, took the stand and testified for about 20 minutes. While giving his testimony, Bun B recounted the details of the home invasion that took place on a Tuesday afternoon five years prior, mentioning that Jackson rang the doorbell at Bun B’s residence, Queenie mistook him for an Amazon delivery person and opened the door. On Thursday, Bun B mentioned that in their over 20 years of marriage, he had never before heard such terror in his wife’s voice as he did during the home invasion. “This was an entirely new traumatizing incident. This is something we still deal with to this day,” he said. “There are times when she gets closed off. She can’t communicate, and I just get so angry all over again because she didn’t deserve this. She didn’t ask for this,” he continued, getting visibly emotional.
As his wife’s screams echoed through the house, Bun B recounted how he swiftly reached for his gun. She urgently pleaded with him, “Don’t come downstairs. He’s going to kill me.”
“I wanted to confront the person who put that fear in my wife’s voice,” the rapper said. “She was very panicked. She was borderline hysterical. She just did not want me to go out that door and face the person with the gun,” Bun B added.

During his testimony, Bun B described how Jackson had already made his way into their garage. Upon seeing Jackson sitting in the driver’s seat of his wife’s car, Bun B fired five to six shots at him, with one bullet hitting Jackson in the shoulder. In retaliation, Jackson returned fire, causing him to fall out of the car, leading to a physical altercation between both men as they fought on the ground.
“My wife came through the garage door. She started screaming when she saw that we were on the ground, tussling. He kind of broke away from me and took off running,” Bun B recalled.
