Ben Affleck ‘At Risk’ Of ‘Drinking Again’ Amid Divorce Rumors

Rumors about the troubled state of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s marriage continue to swirl, and sources have now suggested that their “imminent” divorce may be taking a toll on Affleck’s sobriety.

Affleck, who had previously struggled with drinking and gambling addictions, is said to be suffering from “acute sadness” and has seemingly resorted to drinking again to cope.

According to the Daily Mail, concerns about Affleck’s well-being are coming to the forefront. Multiple sources suggest that the “Argo” actor may have fallen off the wagon and returned to the bottle to cope with his marital troubles.

The 51-year-old actor has been open about his struggles with alcohol and gambling addiction in the past, and sources are reportedly worried that the stress of the impending breakup may be causing him to relapse.

A source noted that he’s either “at risk” of turning to his old ways or is already back drinking, while another shared that they’ve “seen him looking glassy-eyed, and it is a real worry to everyone who cares about him.”

“I hear that he is drinking. He is full of demons – a really troubled person,” one source claimed.

According to the Daily Mail, the “Gone Girl” actor as his in-laws have reportedly “turned against” him. Lopez canceled her scheduled summer tour to spend more time with her family as she continues to lean on them for support.

It is also said that her manager, Benny Medina, “openly dislikes” her husband, meaning Affleck may be fighting a lost cause if he wants to salvage their “imminent” divorce.

A source said, “I understand that he has checked out of the marriage, but she has yet to accept the truth of the situation and thinks that with therapy, they might make it.”

“It is made all the more difficult by the fact that we are dealing here with the emotions of the five children they have between them,” the source added. “The reasons why it hasn’t worked out are many but when you lose J.Lo’s family, you lose J.Lo. Her mum and her sisters are against him and Benny [Medina] is also.”

The troubled couple have reportedly turned to their loved ones for support as they navigate this trying phase in their relationship.

A source told Entertainment Tonight that Lopez “has been leaning on her mom, sisters, and kids during this transitional period.” The 54-year-old multi-talented entertainer has two sisters, Lynda and Leslie Ann, and shares twins Emme and Max with her ex-husband, Marc Anthony.

On the other hand, Affleck is understood to have turned to his old friend Matt Damon and his family members to help him through this challenging period.

“Ben is sad about it all but focused on his work, being a great dad, and co-parenting well with Jennifer Garner,” the source added. “He has been leaning on Matt Damon and his close circle of guy friends. Matt is always in Ben’s corner and is supportive of him.”

The pair have seemingly started moving on from each other, at least unofficially. A source told ET that they’ve been “living separate lives,” but they’re “not officially separated yet.”

“At this point, they are just doing their own thing,” the insider told the news outlet. “They went into their relationship very optimistic and thought things could change, but they haven’t.”

Since reports of their potential split, the actor has been seen without his wedding ring on some occasions. However, Lopez has always had her ring on for her outings since the rumors began swirling.

The “Deep Water” actor and the “Jenny From The Block” singer sent rumor mills into overdrive when reports surfaced that they’d “quietly” secured the services of realtor Santiago Arana from The Agency to sell their $60 million marital home, per TMZ.

The reason for that decision has now come to light. An insider told People magazine that Affleck didn’t like the property because “it was too far away from his kids,” and Lopez also thought that it was “way too big” for her.

The couple is reportedly asking for $65 million to sell the property. Affleck has since moved into a $100,000-a-month Brentwood rental near his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, while Lopez is understood to be “touring houses and shopping around for her own home.”
