On June 18, 2024, the Yellowstone star appeared on The Howard Stern Show, where Stern addressed the rumors of Kevin Costner dating Jewel. The Academy Award winner clarified that he has never dated Jewel and emphasized that they are just friends. He said, “She’s special, and I don’t want these rumors to ruin our friendship because that’s what we have. She’s special to me. She’s beautiful enough to go out with.”
When Stern asked how these speculations began, Costner explained that he, Jewel, and Emma Watson, among others, were at Branson Island, where the folk singer has a foundation. He mentioned that he had “tremendous conversations” with both Jewel and Watson. The rumors likely started because he and Jewel were seen traveling together on a private plane. However, Costner pointed out that there were around nine people on the plane and stressed that he didn’t want the press to misinterpret the situation.
