Following their GLOW EP earlier this year, NYC collective MICHELLE have announced their new album, Songs About You Specifically, due out Sept. 27 via Atlantic Records and Transgressive in the U.K.
Written in Ojai, California, where they rented a house and experienced a newfound closeness after months of touring together, the band embraced a new direction, which they’re previewing today with the lead single “Oontz.” Whereas their earlier music embodied their carefree youth, the group’s latest song takes cues from GLOW, slipping into a bouncy, head-nodding groove while calling out a deceptive relationship. “It’s so easy to write a generic love or breakup song,” Julian Kaufman says. “But many of these stories are true. We’re coming from a really honest place.”

Later this year, the six-piece will go on a North American run titled A Tour For You Specifically, including dates in Portland, Seattle, Denver, Los Angeles, and more. Tickets go on sale this Friday (June 21) at 10 a.m. local time.
