Popular social media influencer and ‘Baddies Caribbean’ star ‘Meatball’, has been sentenced in connection with a city-wide looting spree that took place last year. The influencer, whose real name is Dayjia Blackwell, live-streamed the mayhem during the looting.
According to police reports, ‘Meatball’ live-streamed the looting as it unfolded, providing valuable evidence that helped authorities track down her and other suspects involved in the incident. The livestream captured scenes of looters moving from a state liquor store to high-end retail stores like Lululemon and the Center City Apple Store. During the stream, stolen Apple products triggering anti-theft alarms added to the incriminating evidence.
After being arrested and charged, ‘Meatball’ ultimately pleaded guilty to two charges related to the looting spree: riot with the intent to commit a felony and criminal use of a communication facility. In a court appearance, she expressed remorse for her actions and accepted responsibility for her role in the event. As part of her sentencing, ‘Meatball’ has been placed on five years of probation for each charge, with a requirement to complete 150 hours of community service and pay a $10,000 fine.
