A representative for President Joe Biden‘s re-election campaign was caught dodging former President Donald Trump‘s demand for a drug test to be done by both parties before Thursday night’s (June 27) Presidential Debate on CNN.

On Monday (June 24), after several Republicans and Trump supporters suggested the idea, Donald Trump agreed on his social media app Truth Social that President Joe Biden should submit to a drug test ahead of the presidential debate on Thursday. Those for the drug test inferred that for Biden to have a strong and successful debate it can only be the result of him taking performance-enhancing drugs.
Around 12:42 p.m., Trump posted in all-caps demanding that his opponent (whom he ran against four years ago) should submit to a drug test. He wrote, “DRUG TEST CROOKED JOE BIDEN??? I WOULD, ALSO, IMMEDIATELY AGREE TO ONE!!!” As mentioned, the request came after others, like Rep. Ronny Jackson, R-Texas, urged Biden to undergo a drug test for performance-enhancing drugs before his big debate on Thursday.
Joining in, Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, R-Iowa, also criticized Joe Biden’s mental state. Without any evidence to support her statement, she told Fox Business that Republicans are already expecting him to “be on something” during the debate.

Since Trump’s comments, representatives for President Joe Biden’s re-election campaign have repeatedly dodged answering any direct questions about whether Biden plans to take any drugs to enhance his performance during the CNN Presidential Debate on Thursday evening, or if he plans to take any drug tests to prove he is clean.
On Tuesday (June 25), Adrienne Elrod, senior spokesperson for the Biden-Harris campaign, told CNN that Trump is just struggling to find a way to win the campaign and is now suggesting that Biden is on drugs as he suggested Hillary Clinton was during the 2016 campaign.

According to The Daily Beast, Elrod said, “I mean, I don‘t even really know what to say about that. I worked on Hillary Clinton‘s campaign. She had also debated him very effectively. He accused her of being on drugs. President Biden defeated Donald Trump twice in previous debates. This is what he does because he doesn‘t have anything else to run on.”
Elrod continued. “He doesn‘t have a plan. He doesn‘t have a record for fighting for the American people. He doesn‘t know why he’s running, except to seek political retribution on his enemies. And so he has to resort to these types of tactics which are frankly just silly and turn off a lot of voters, especially voters who want to see their president fight for them.”

According to Fox News Digital, the Biden campaign “twice avoided direct answers.” On Wednesday evening (June 26), Biden campaign spokesperson Lauren Hitt told the outlet, “Donald Trump is so scared of being held accountable for his toxic agenda of attacking reproductive freedom and cutting Social Security that he and his allies are resorting to desperate, obviously false lies.”
The outlet asked for a more direct “yes” or “no” answer and Hitt reportedly said to refer to her initial statement, but added, “The accusation from Trump on drugs is a ‘desperate, obviously false lie.’”
When the outlet asked the Trump re-election campaign if he planned to take any performance-enhancing drugs for the debate, Trump campaign national press secretary Karoline Leavitt insisted, “Absolutely not. President Trump has naturally elite stamina and doesn’t need performance-enhancing drugs, unlike Joe Biden, who many are saying will be drugged up for the debate like he was at the State of the Union. President Trump has repeatedly asked Joe Biden to participate in drug testing. What does Team Biden have to hide?”
