I just thought I’d remind you of a couple of bonkers ads that Sony produced for its PlayStation console in the late 90s early 2000s.
The first is titled “Welcome To The Third Space” and it was directed by Ridley Scott. It’s a very surreal and trippy ad! The second is called “Mental Wealth” and it was directed by Chris Cunningham. The second ad was very creepy and unsettling.
“Mental Wealth” featured a young Scottish woman in pigtails with eyes that were very strange and inhuman. I remember seeing it and having conversations with friends on if the girl in the commercial really looked like that! It was so different and unique at the time.
Both ads feel very unhinged and I loved it. This era was filled with all kinds of crazy ads, and I loved that PlayStation and other businesses were thinking outside of the box to make some wild advertisements!
