The 56-year-old actor stated that on April 11, 2023, he had a “bad headache,” which made him ask his “boy for [an] Advil.”

He then snapped his fingers and stated that he was “gone for 20 days” afterward and “couldn’t remember anything.”

“So they told me I’m in Atlanta, they told me, my sister, my daughter took me to the first doctor,” Foxx said. The actor then spoke to a woman beside him; however, what he told her was inaudible.

“Next doctor said, ‘something going on up there,” Foxx continued, pointing at his head.

“I won’t say it on camera,” he added while gesturing to the person videoing him, causing the other people to laugh.

Corinne wrote at the time, “Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time.”

After his hospitalization, it was reported that Foxx was recuperating at a physical rehabilitation center in Chicago.

The actor eventually broke his silence on the health scare on May 3, taking to Instagram to express his appreciation for the love and support he had received. “Appreciate all the love!!! Feeling blessed,” Foxx wrote in the post, which included a prayer hand, a red heart, and a fox emoji.

In a video clip shared after his hospitalization, Foxx opened up about his health and why his family kept things private.

The actor refrained from disclosing specific details about his health scare but provided an explanation as to why only his family was permitted to visit him during the most critical phase.

“I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie, a television show,” he said in the clip. “I just didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through.”

The actor also dismissed rumors about losing his motor skills due to the health scare. However, he did admit that the illness had a significant impact on him, saying he “did go to hell and back.”

“My road to recovery had some potholes as well, but I’m coming back, and I’m able to work,” Foxx added at the time, concluding with “I am on my way back.”

In April this year, a source told People magazine that Foxx was “doing incredibly well” after his health scare.

“He is so busy and back to doing what he loves,” the source told the news outlet, adding, “Jamie didn’t skip a beat on ‘Beat Shazam.’ He was literally right back to his old self. Really on it!”

A second insider noted that Foxx “is super busy, happy, and strong” since being discharged from a rehab facility last year.

“He is gung ho work now, living clean and enjoying his good health,” the insider claimed.

They added, “Jamie is a social guy, he likes to be around his friends, he has to be busy doing all kinds of different things. He is a bonafide entrepreneur with new projects bubbling all of the time.”

Although specific details of his health battle remain a mystery, the actor revealed at the seventh annual AAFCA Special Achievement Awards that he will share what happened to him during a Stand-Up comedy show.
