In a recent interview on the Breakfast Club, controversial activist Dr. Umar Johnson expressed his views on President Donald Trump and the support he receives from Black Americans.

Without holding back, Dr. Umar argued that Black individuals who align themselves with the former President exhibit what he refers to as “slave master syndrome” and “white Jesus syndrome.”

He went on to say, “You know Black America suffers from battered spouse syndrome and what battered spouse speaks to is the fact that no matter how bad you beat me up, if I believe I need you in order to survive, I’m never going anywhere. Part of our problem — part of the equation to our problem as American Africans — why we don’t do anything on our own, is [because] we are often waiting for the great white savior to come.” Here’s what else he had to say:

The “Slave Master Syndrome”:

Apparently, the “slave master syndrome” refers to the psychological phenomenon wherein black individuals develop an affinity for those in power who have historically oppressed their community. This syndrome, as he describes it, is rooted in a deep-seated desire for acceptance and validation from the dominant group, even at the expense of their own interests.

Criticism and Counter-Arguments:

Of course, Dr. Umar’s remarks have garnered both support and condemnation. Critics argue that his statements oversimplify the complex reasons why some black individuals may support Trump. They contend that it is essential to acknowledge the diversity of opinions within the black community and respect the individual agency of those who choose to align themselves with him or even the current president.

Aside from his thoughts, there’s tons of Black celebrities who have voiced their support for Donald Trump ahead of the 2024 presidential election. Rappers Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, Lil Pump, and Kanye West are among the list. Most recently Amber Rose endorsed him and despite the backlash she’s been sticking beside him.

“I’m just happy to be on the right side of history. “TRUMP 2024.”
