American rapper Wiz Khalifa is breaking his silence after being arrested with over 18 grams of cannabis and charged with illegal drug possession at a music festival in Romania on Saturday (July 13).

According to several international news outlets, like South China Morning Post and local CNN affiliate Antena3, Wiz Khalifa was headlining at the “Beach, Please!” festival in the Romanian village of Costinesti, on the shore of the Black Sea, when he was caught carrying high-risk drugs.
On Sunday (July 14), prosecutors with the Department of Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism – Constanţa Territorial Service charged Wiz Khalifa, born Cameron Jibril Thomaz. Officials alleged that the rapper not only possessed marijuana but also smoked the drug on stage during his festival performance.

Authorities said the incident occurred as the co-founder of the festival, Andrei Şelaru, popularly known as “Selly,” announced that an anti-drug campaign would be held at the event, in partnership with the most important officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI).
Along with Andrei Şelaru, Lucian Ştefan put on the “Beach, Please!” event, which first debuted in 2022 and is considered the largest urban festival in Southeastern Europe where over 200 artists were invited to perform, like Wiz Khalifa and Travis Scott. Reports also estimated that over 200,000 would be in attendance at this year’s event.

Supporting the prosecutors’ claims of Wiz Khalifa smoking marijuana on the stage at the concert in Romania is viral video footage showing him smoking on stage. Additional footage has gone viral showing Wiz Khalifa being arrested for illegal drug possession and carted off to jail in Romania, where he currently faces up to 10 years in prison as cannabis is considered a “high-risk drug” in the country.
After his arrest, Wiz ended up taking to X (formerly Twitter) to break his silence. He wrote, “Last night’s show was amazing. I didn’t mean any disrespect to the country of Romania by lighting up on stage. They were very respectful and let me go. I’ll be back soon. But without a big a** joint next time.”
