Olivia Flowers offered an update on Kathryn Dennis while appearing on Scheana Shay‘s podcast last week.
Two months after Kathryn, 32, was arrested on suspicion of DUI following a multi-car accident in South Carolina, Olivia, 32, spoke of the former reality star, revealing that Kathryn gave her advice after she was fired from Southern Charm, addressed her current relationship with ex-boyfriend Austen Kroll, 37, weighed in on his new girlfriend, Audrey Pratt, and more.
“[She’s] doing really good,” Olivia confirmed of Kathryn on the July 12 episode of Scheananigans, via Pinkvilla.
According to Olivia, she received support from Kathryn after producers opted against including her in season 10.
“[Kathryn] was just like … ‘After the show, I was just kind of like dropped back down on earth and was expected to figure it out.’ She was like, ‘I kind of had to find my new identity. Like, I was so attached to this show for so long — age 19 and up — and now all the sudden this is gone,’” Olivia revealed. “To feel like you’re so important, so wanted and everyone’s interested in you to suddenly, like, OK, you’re not wanted anymore, bye — she was like, ‘That did something to my mental and I had to take time for myself.’”
Over a year after Kathryn’s exit from the show, Olivia says she has a newfound energy and hopes a return to the spotlight is in her future now that she’s embarked on a positive path.
As for her own exit, Olivia told Scheana her relationship with boyfriend Alex Williams was a factor.
“I was super bummed, I got the call like, a few weeks before filming,” she shared. “The production company was just like, ‘You don’t really seem to be in Charleston that much. We’re noticing on your Instagram you’re in Texas, you’ve got this new boyfriend, and it just seems like you’re choosing a different path.”
Also on Scheananigans, Scheana mentioned that Craig Conover, 35, had said he was hoping that Olivia would return to Southern Charm for season 10 but noted that the same likely couldn’t be said for Austen and Jarrett “JT” Thomas.
“JT? Austen, that’s like an obvious. He gets riled up over every female that just walks his path. But JT? That’s interesting because JT was reaching out to me really wanting me to come back. So I don’t know what beef JT would have but things like change every day so maybe something happened,” Olivia said in response.
Then, when Scheana mentioned that it could’ve been JT’s closeness with Taylor Ann Green, 29, who betrayed Olivia amid season nine by sharing (at least) a kiss with Austen, that led to their beef, Olivia admitted, “That could’ve been it.”
As for Austen, Olivia said they are able to co-exist before gushing over Audrey.
“There’s no hate, there’s no love, but I know for a fact Austen probably gave out the biggest sigh of relief when he heard I wasn’t coming back. But I hear his new girlfriend’s on it … I met her on a trip, kind of right before [the] reunion, and I love her,” Olivia confirmed. “She is so sweet, so cute, so beautiful, and I remember telling him, I was like, ‘When you f*ck this up, I would like to stay friends with her, just FYI.’”
Southern Charm season 10 is expected to premiere sometime in the coming months.
