‘Bachelorette’ Rachel Lindsay Loses Big in Bryan Abasolo Divorce

Well damn! Rachel Lindsay is suffering a big loss in her ongoing divorce from ex Bryan Abasolo. The first black “Bachelorette” has been ordered to pay her estranged husband  $13,257 monthly in temporary spousal support.

According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, within the next 60 days Lindsay, in addition to the spousal support, must also pay $15,000 for her estranged husband’s attorney’s fees and $5,000 for forensic expert expenses. Even worse, a judge may also rule that she will be responsible to pay retroactive spousal support.

Lindsay, 39, and Abasolo seemed destined to be together after finding love on season 13 of the hit ABC reality television series. Abasolo famously received the first impression rose only a few hours after meeting Lindsay back in 2017.

Sadly happily ever after wasn’t in the cards for the couple. Four years after the pair tied the knot in August 2019, Abasolo filed for divorce.

In January, the 44-year-old chiropractor issued a statement on his Instagram account announcing the break-up.

“If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I don’t like to put my personal affairs on social media and like to keep a safe space for our family,” the statement that has since been taken down read. “After more than 4 years of marriage, Rachel and I have made the difficult decision to part ways and start anew.”

In June court docs Lindsay, whom shares no children with Abasolo, revealed she found out about her impending divorce via text.

“Earlier that day, Bryan and I had a conversation in my kitchen during which he failed to mention that he had filed for divorce,” Lindsay alleged. “Approximately 30 minutes after he left the house, he sent me a text message that simply read ‘Hey … I just wanted to let you know that I officially filed.’”

Things then get messier.

In court documents filed in Los Angeles Court’s Central District on May 1, Abasolo, demanded emergency spousal support and that Lindsay, 39, pay at least $75,000 for his legal fees. He also confirmed that he and his estranged wife were still living together but called the situation “awkward.”

“Rachel and I are cohabiting in our Family Residence, but neither of us wants to continue to live together. Our current living situation is very awkward and strained,” Abasolo said in the documents obtained by People. “I want to move out of our Family Residence as soon as possible, but maintaining our standard of living is not financially feasible at this time.”

“I placed my career as a chiropractor on hold to move twice for Rachel’s career,” the docs read. “These moves were detrimental to my chiropractic business, while Rachel’s income and success as a media personality skyrocketed.”

Awkward indeed. Lindsay then struck back and slammed Abasolo for misrepresenting his finances and essentially asking for more than he deserved.

“His requests for spousal support and $75,000 in professional fees are not supported by competent evidence and far exceed the actual marital lifestyle and his need,” Lindsay stated in court documents obtained by People. “[He] appears to be inflating his expenses, the lion’s share of which Rachel pays on his behalf, as they relate to her house which he refuses to vacate.”

Despite the mess, Lindsay seems to be remaining in positive spirits. Just three days ago the former on-air correspondent for Extra posted images of herself all smiles in a sunny locale, captioning the images “sunset + reset.”
