Craig Conover Says Lindsay & Carl Radke Had a ‘Rocky’ Summer

Craig Conover claims Carl Radke’s breakup with fiancé Lindsay Hubbard will “make more sense” after the new season of Summer House airs. The Southern Charm star, who is dating castmate Paige DeSorbo and was therefore present for much of the taping, also shared how he learned of the split.

Lindsay and Carl have publicly shared several milestones concerning their engagement, including the proposal, engagement party and bridal shower. For two weeks after the split, however, both parties were virtually silent, and many of their wedding guests wondered if the breakup was real.

Speaking with Page Six, Craig shared his initial reaction to the split.

“I was very surprised,” he said. “I at least thought they would get married and then whatever happened, happened, but also whenever everyone gets to see the season, it’ll make a lot more sense.”

The star suggested that the former couple had drama this summer.

“For two months, we had all dealt with this. You know, it’s not like they had a great summer and all of the sudden this happens,” said Craig, who added that he had “great conversations” with Carl and Lindsay in the past few months.

“I just think, obviously, the end result without any context at all was going to be tough for people to wrap their heads around,” he continued. “I think it’ll make more sense with more context, that’s all.”

The 35-year-old then revealed how he learned of the split.

“I was coming back from the US Open, and I got the text message and I was like, ‘Oh my God!’” said Craig, smiling.

Two weeks after the breakup, Carl reportedly sent a letter to the wedding guests, explaining more details behind the situation.

“Words cannot possibly express how difficult the last two weeks have been for Lindsay and I. We are so incredibly sorry to all of our guests for the confusion and lack of communication,” wrote Carl, via People. “We were left trying to figure out how this all exactly happened before we could even have the opportunity to determine the path forward amongst ourselves … The fact of the matter is Lindsay is devastated and I’m crushed with how all this transpired.”

He went on to say, “I don’t take [this] lightly. We are super grateful for the love and support you have shown us and will do what I can to help with any costs associated with changing plans.”
