Jared James Dicus, a 23-year-old Texas man, has been sentenced after he allegedly decapitated his wife three months after they tied the knot.

According to USA Today, Dicus and his wife, Anggy Diaz, 21, walked down the aisle in October 2022. On January 11, 2023, the Waller County Sheriff’s Office reportedly received a call from the man’s parents. They reportedly alleged that there had been a death on their property.
When police arrived, they reportedly found Diaz “dead and decapitated and dismembered” in different rooms of the family’s cabin. The New York Post reports that Diaz was stabbed multiple times.
“A portion of the body was dismembered, and the residence was covered in blood. Gruesome scene at best,” a sheriff named Troy Guidry reportedly explained, per the Austin American-Statesman.
USA Today adds that Discus was “detained at the scene,” and the 23-year-old admitted to killing his wife.
Discus was reportedly booked into jail and charged with his wife’s murder.
More Details About The Texas Man’s Sentencing
According to the outlet, authorities did not publicly release Discus’ motive for the killing. However, the Austin American-Statesman has reported that authorities had responded to domestic violence reports from the property “more than once.”
Amid the man’s trial, prosecutors had also reportedly stated that “potential mental health” concerns about Dicus had been raised. However, After a court-ordered examination to measure his competency, the 23-year-old was reportedly deemed competent for trial.
“Heinous crimes like this one will not go unanswered, we will seek justice for the victims of domestic violence and send a message to the perpetrators that here, we fight for our victims,” Waller County Criminal District Attorney Sean Whittmore reportedly stated.
On Wednesday, July 31, Discus pleaded guilty to the murder charge and was sentenced to 40 years in prison, per ABC 13. Additionally, USA Today reports that he will not be eligible for parole until 2043.

A California Man Is Also Facing Charges For Decapitating His Elderly Parents
A man in California has also been accused of decapitating his loved ones. As The Shade Room previously reported, 41-year-old Joseph Brandon Gerdvil has been accused of beheading and mutilating the bodies of his elderly parents.
The incident reportedly occurred in July and escalated into a search for the man, which ended in gunfire.
