Frank Catania reveals that he was thrilled when his fiancée Brittany Mattessich rejected an offer to join the RHONJ cast.
Over the years, Frank Catania has become a fan favorite on the Real Housewives of New Jersey after he joined the show as the ex-husband/best friend/business partner of Housewife Dolores Catania.
Fans have enjoyed watching Dolores and Frank’s relationship dynamics over the years. However, fans have also loved seeing them find love in new relationships. Dolores is currently dating Paul “Paulie” Connell, while Frank is engaged to Brittany Mattessich. The two are set to tie the knot in November 2024.
And while Frank loves appearing on RHONJ, he recently revealed that he is grateful his fiancée didn’t join the show as a cast member when offered a role by Bravo.
During a recent appearance on The Lisa Alastuey podcast, Frank Catania addressed Brittany’s role on RHONJ and revealed that she isn’t interested in being a part of the cast.
“There has been some inkling about trying to bring her on as a Housewife,” Frank explained. “And on her own, without me saying it, she has said, ’No.’ And she’s young. So being her age that she is and she said, ‘No,’ I was very happy that she said, ‘No.’”
He continued, “She said she’s seen too many good relationships go bad because of it. But she goes, ‘I have no problem, I come on. Make an appearance here. I’d love to be part of it. But, nah, I don’t want that obligation of having to be a contracted Real Housewife.’”
Frank added, “It’s public. She’s got thin skin.”
While Frank and Brittany did film for season 14 of RHONJ, the two consciously tried to film less to avoid the toxicity among the cast.
“We tried to stay out of toxic scenes. We have so many good things going on in our lives,” Frank shared. “And we really didn’t want to be part of those toxic scenes. So that’s why you didn’t see us as much [on RHONJ] Season 14. Because there’s certain parties that we didn’t go to because we knew what was going to happen.”
Real Housewives of New Jersey isn’t expected to return for season 15 until late 2025 or early 2026.
