Hey – I am a journalist turned author, presenter and filmmaker based in London. In 2023, I made my debut as a director with Aliens Expanded, the definitive documentary on the perfect sequel. A journey that took me across the world and into the company of James Cameron and Sigourney Weaver among many others. I have written over twenty books on movies, including Alien Vault, Anything You Can Imagine: Peter Jackson and the Making of Middle-earth, Ridley Scott: A Retrospective, James Cameron: A Retrospective, and The Legend of Mad Max. I’ve got another, Steven Spielberg: The Iconic Filmmaker and His Work, ready to be published in October 2024. I keep busy! I am the former editor and remain a contributing editor of Empire, still one of the world’s biggest movie magazines, as well as the writer-presenter of the Classic Movies series on the UK’s Sky Arts channel. But my eyes are now laser focused on my next documentary project – The Thing Expanded.

Synopsis:

The ultimate exploration of a cinematic classic, ‘The Thing Expanded’ will be centered on an in-depth analysis led by none other than John Carpenter himself. The documentary will include a wealth of memories, stories, facts, rabbit-hole tangents and theories about the 1982 film and its origins and influences that Carpenter fans demand, including discussion of the 2011 prequel, video game sequel, RPG, comics, merch, the original John W. Campbell novella Who Goes There? and much more.

More Info:

Ask me anything! I'll be back at 5 PM ET today (Monday 9/2) to answer any questions.
