Why Batman Is a Huge Problem For the New DC Universe

Where Was It Filmed? Havenport?

As the fans of Invincible have enjoyed watching the animated series on Prime Video and are waiting for Season 3 to drop, many are still wondering what is going on with the big-screen live-action adaptation that has been in development since 2017.

During a recent interview with The Direct, creator Robert Kirkman offered an update on that film and explained why it’s taking so long, saying: “It’s still in development. We’re still working with Universal. You know, the show is going so well. I think the movie absolutely has to be perfect.

“And so, it’s taking a lot of time, like getting the pieces aligned and getting everything to work so that we can come out and make it as good as it can possibly be.

“So, it’s been in development for a long time, and it’s probably going to be in development for a while longer.”

He went on to explain that the film has to be a different experience than the show, saying: “Just because, in relation to the show, it has to provide a different experience, it has to still be true to Invincible in some interesting ways.

“But it has to be its own thing. It has to stand on its own. And so that’s something we’re spending a lot of time crafting. But I think when it finally happens, it’s gonna be really cool.”

So, after seven years, the Invincible movie is still in development. The creative team must be having a rough time trying to figure out what exactly they actually want to do with the movie. If there are any behind-the-scenes issues, Kirkman isn’t going to say anything,

Kirkman previously said: “Sometimes movies take a little bit longer. I think it’s safe to say, if anything, the show has just helped that immensely. People are very excited about that movie potential at Universal. So, we’re riding that excitement and trying to push things forward as quickly as possible.”

But, it’s not happening very quickly. As of ten months, there was still no script. Kirkman said: “Still in the script development stage. I think once we get the script to where it needs to be, I think we’ll be in a good place, and can move fairly quickly after that.

“But all of the factors that I just discussed are things that we’re thinking about: How does this feel new? How does this feel different? How is this going to feel like something that’s special? Those are very tall orders.

“We also need to find a way to play off the animated series, but also differentiate ourselves and give the movie a reason for existing. There’s a lot of work that needs to be done. But we’re hopeful.”

The movie is being written and directed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.

Invincible is described as a suspenseful, action-filled, emotion-packed story that builds upon poignant and heartwarming moments of love, friendship, and humanity.

The story revolves around 17-year-old Mark Grayson, who’s just like every other guy his age — except his father is the most powerful superhero on the planet, Omni-Man. But as Mark develops powers of his own, he discovers his father’s legacy may not be as heroic as it seems.
