Halle Berry is seeking court intervention, alleging that her ex-husband, Olivier Martinez, is creating challenges and conflict in their co-parenting arrangement.
In court documents obtained by Us Weekly on Sept. 4, Berry, 58, expressed frustration over Martinez’s anger and “negativity” concerning their 10-year-old son Maceo’s health and education plans. In a letter included in the filings, Berry appealed to Martinez, 58, to find common ground regarding Maceo’s future.
“I feel very sorry that we are at odds. I had better hopes for us. I always hoped that we do better for Maceo and work together like we did before Van [Hunt] came along,” Berry, who is currently seeking full custody of Maceo, wrote to her ex-husband. The actress alleged that their co-parenting dynamic had changed since she met her current boyfriend, Van Hunt, in 2020.
“It’s all has gone to shit since then. We used to try to get along for Maceo’s [sic] sake, now you don’t want to even try and I’ve tried Oliver… you know I have,” the Cat Woman star continued.
“However, you just stay angry and I’m not sure why. We must let all this anger go and do better. Maceo deserves that. I’m tired of being called a lier [sic], I’m tired of fighting with you and I quit. If you want to keep this negativity going that’s on you, but I want no parts of it… we need to ban [sic] together now more than ever. However we face it, we need to face it together not fighting. Just my opinion, but you will make your choice.”

According to the text exchange, Martinez didn’t seem receptive to Berry’s plea of solidarity. “The only way to work together is to work ur [sic] way. That’s [sic] not working together. U are [sic] playing dirty as you always did, not putting Maceo’s [sic] best interest first. But karma is coming no worries [sic],” the 58-year-old responded.
Berry is now requesting the court’s assistance in facilitating collaboration between herself and Martinez.
In her petition, she claimed to have spent more than $200,000 on legal fees, including a voluntary contribution of $80,000 towards Olivier Martinez’s legal costs. Berry, who was reportedly ordered to pay $8,000 a month in child support to her ex-husband in 2023, claimed that Martinez had repeatedly postponed the court-ordered co-parenting therapy despite numerous reminders.
She further alleged that Martinez relied on her child support payments for his livelihood, which forced her to continue working. Berry also noted that Martinez initially refused to cover the cost of a home visit with their therapist during a time when she was available to attend, but later reversed his decision.
“I have done everything possible to work with Olivier, to communicate with him, and to engage him in the decision-making process regarding our son [Maceo] in an amicable way,” she wrote in the fresh court documents, filed on Sept. 3. “Olivier has refused to co-parent and communicate with me in a child-centered way; he has been oppositional and unmovable on all major issues relating to Maceo.”
As previously reported, in 2010, Berry and Martinez met on the set of the action thriller Dark Tide. Three years later, the pair said “I do” at the swanky Chateau des Conde in France. The couple welcomed their son Maceo in 2013. Berry and Martinez’s love story came crashing down in 2015 when they filed for divorce after two years of marriage. At the time, the former couple told People that they were moving forward from their union with “love and respect for one another.”
The former pair added, “We wish each other nothing but happiness in life and we hope that you respect our and, most importantly, our children’s privacy as we go through this difficult period.”
