Following Friday’s news that the Child’s Play spin-off series will end after three seasons, creator Don Mancini continued to tease the killer doll’s onscreen future amid a #RenewChucky fan campaign as he and the show’s stars reacted to its cancelation.

“HE’LL BE BACK,” wrote Mancini on X, sharing Deadline’s previous report. “I have so much love for our amazing fans. Your #RenewChucky campaign meant the world to me during a very difficult time. Chucky says to tell all of you, quoting himself: ‘See ya real soon.’”

Jennifer Tilly, who reprised her role from the films as Tiffany Valentine (and herself) for the series, also shared her reaction on the platform. “So sad to announce that after three wonderful seasons the television series Chucky has finally been canceled,” she started in the post.

“First I’d like to think our fans, who managed to keep the #RenewChucky hashtag trending for MONTHS!  Without your loyalty and tenacity Chucky would never have endured for thirty years! We’re really proud of our show. It has been a wonderful miracle working with this talented cast and crew. We were very lucky to have the leadership of our brilliant captain Don Mancini. But (to quote Call of Duty) we are ‘down but not out.’ Resurrections are Chucky’s specialties and he has many of them! In the meantime, if you want to watch three seasons of a phenomenal show (100% on the Tomatometer!) you can check out seasons one, two and three streaming on Peacock. Peace out. We love you all.”

Devon Sawa also remained optimistic about the franchise’s return after appearing throughout the show as multiple characters, including Lucas Wheeler, Logan Wheeler, Father Bryce, President James Collins and Randall Jenkins.

“CHUCKY NEVER ENDS!! … He just respawns,” wrote Sawa on X. “I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, this series was some of the most fun I’ve ever had shooting. I’m sad, but excited to see where it goes. RIP — ‘The Series’.”

Fiona Dourif, who reprised her movie role as Nica Pierce and even took over for her dad Brad Dourif as a young killer Charles Lee Ray, wrote, “This job was a dream, and I am grateful for every minute of it. *we take a tiny red bow*”

Zackary Arthur, who starred as Jake Wheeler, shared a statement on his Instagram Story. “For the past 4 years I got the pleasure of working with some of the most talented, caring, and driven people I’ve met,” he wrote. “The time I’ve spent working on Chucky not only spawned some of the greatest moments in my life, but also gained me invaluable lifelong friends. To the viewers – This franchise would not have gotten to where it is without you. I am so grateful that I got to be part of a project that I have heard has helped many people in their own lives. Chucky always comes back.”

Arthur continued, “Needless to say, today’s outcome is not what he had hoped for, but Mancini, who also created and wrote [the] movie franchise, remained graceful in his reaction, vowing that this is not Chucky’s last spree.”

Alyvia Alyn Lind, who played Lexy Cross, bid farewell to fans with a bloody behind-the-scenes selfie on her Insta Story. “Thank you so much to all the cast, crew, fans and every person who made this show possible,” she wrote. “It really is so special and I’m so grateful to have spent the last 4 years playing Lexy. Love you Chucky family. Lexy signing off.”

Friday’s cancelation comes after Mancini teased in April that he was “really excited” about his idea for Season 4. “I already pitched it to the network. So fingers crossed because it’s something I really like to do,” he told The Direct.

Premiering in 2021, Chucky follows the murderous escapades of the notorious killer doll. He crosses paths with archenemies, old allies and new prey, as he seeks to inspire fear and mayhem wherever he goes. The show was executive produced by Don Mancini, Nick Antosca, Alex Hedlund, David Kirschner and Jeff Renfoe.

Mancini launched the slasher franchise with Child’s Play (1988), which he co-wrote with John Lafia and director Tom Holland. He also wrote Child’s Play 2 (1990), Child’s Play 3 (1991), Bride of Chucky (1998), Seed of Chucky (2004), Curse of Chucky (2013) and Cult of Chucky (2017), serving as director for the last three installments as well.
