Republican Mark Robinson recently suffered injuries after getting burned in an accident during one of his campaigning visits on Friday. The North Carolina lieutenant governor was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital for immediate treatment. As such, the public has raised concerns, as well as curiosity, regarding Robinson’s current medical condition.
Here are all the available details about the recent incident that occurred during Mark Robinson’s visit to a truck show.
Mark Robinson’s campaign incident explained
Mark Robinson sustained multiple burns during his appearance at the Mayberry Truck Show. He was reportedly attending the Mount Airy event to further his campaign, as per his campaign spokesperson Mike Lonergan.
Lonergan also added that the North Carolina politician was then taken to a Northern regional Mount Airy medical establishment, where he was treated for second-degree burns. He then assured the public of Robinson’s well-being, claiming that he was recovering well. “He is in good spirits, appreciates the outpouring of well wishes,” Lonergan stated. [Robinson] is excited to return to the campaign trail as scheduled first thing.” (via The Guardian)
Despite the update regarding Robinson’s burns by his campaign associate, it remains unknown as to how the Republican suffered his wounds in the first place. He is currently in the running for the position of North Carolina governor alongside Democratic gubernatorial nominee Josh Stein. While Robinson has occupied the post of Lieutenant Governor since 2021, Stein currently serves as the state’s Attorney General. The present governor, Roy Cooper, had to refrain from contesting for the position due to term limits.
Aside from his burning incident, Mark Robinson has lately been dominating headlines for his contentious racial and sexual comments. The online remarks originally came to light on September 19 via a CNN report, stirring a controversy. Since the revelation, several Republicans have distanced themselves from Robinson, with 12 of his campaign members or employees of the lieutenant governor’s office also leaving his side.
Meanwhile, the 56-year-old statesman has denied all wrongdoings and has even employed the services of a law firm for further investigation.
