A Texas man was captured on video smashing a signed Taylor Swift guitar that he had purchased at an auction for $4000 to protest against the singer’s support of Vice President Kamala Harris.

The auction occurred on Sunday at the Ellis County Wild Game Dinner in Waxahachie, Texas. A video showed a man smashing the guitar with a hammer, and the incident quickly went viral on social media. According to a report by WFAA, the man allegedly did it in response to Taylor Swift’s support of Vice President Harris. However, an Ellis County Wild Game Dinner spokesperson called the situation “lighthearted” and claimed that the audience found humor in the man’s actions. “It wasn’t meant to be mean or malicious. He was just making a lighthearted statement showing disapproval of people in the entertainment industry trying to influence politics. The crowd thought it was hilarious,” they explained.
The spokesperson added that proceeds from the auction will be donated to local youth and agricultural education programs. “At the end of the day, the kids win and will benefit from this,” they continued. It remains unclear if the incident aligns with former President Donald Trump’s warning that Swift would face backlash for her political involvement.
