The entertainment world continues to be rocked by news and ongoing legal allegations surrounding Sean “Diddy” Combs. Just last week, social media erupted with reactions to reports of more than 120 new allegations.
Now, Diddy’s mother, Janice Smalls Combs, is breaking her silence.

Janice Smalls Combs calls reactions regarding her son, Sean Combs, “heartbreaking.”

“I come to you today as a mother that is devastated and profoundly saddened by the allegations made against my son, Sean Combs. It is heartbreaking to see my son judged not for the truth, but for a narrative created out of lies,” Janice said in a statement shared by her attorney Natlie G. Figgers late on Sunday night.
Janice’s words mark the first public family statement since Diddy’s arrest in September 2024. Janice shared she is not trying to “portray her son as perfect,” but believes he deserves a fair trial.
“To bear witness to what seems to be like a public lynching of my son before he has had the opportunity to prove his innocence is a pain too unbearable to put into words,” she said. “Like every human being, my son deserves to have his day in court, to finally share his side, and to prove his innocence.”
Janice also addressed her son’s past, acknowledging his imperfections. “I’m not here to portray my son as perfect because he is not. He has made mistakes in his past, as we all have,” she stated. She went on to reference a specific incident, admitting, “My son may not have been entirely truthful about certain things, such as denying he has ever gotten violent with an ex-girlfriend when the hotel’s surveillance showed otherwise.”
In her statement, Janice expressed concern about how complicated truths can get distorted. “Sometimes, the truth and a lie become so closely intertwined that it becomes terrifying to admit one part of the story,” she said.

Janice’s emotional statement underscores her love for her son—a love that Diddy has often spoken about publicly. At VH1’s 3rd Annual “Dear Mama: A Love Letter to Moms in 2018, Diddy called his mother a “superhero.”
At the time, he said of Janice, “She sacrificed everything to make sure that we were well taken care of and that we received the best possible education. And that we would always have the opportunity to go on and be great. She taught me to believe in myself and trust in my dreams. She instilled in me the importance of family and the power of love.”
Diddy pleaded “not guilty” to federal charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He currently awaits trial.
