#Socialites, get a load of this! Bath & Body Works is apologizing and pulling a candle from its shelves and online platform after catching backlash for seemingly depicting a KKK hood-like design.

On Tuesday (October 8), Bath & Body Works started trending after a user on X posted a screenshot of a candle, which showed the company’s “Snowed In” scent featuring a snowflake design set against a red backdrop. However, the snowflake design closely mirrored the infamous hoods worn by the Ku Klux Klan (KKK).
While snowflakes, especially arts and crafts style snowflakes, are known to have different holes and shapes cut into them, the design on the Bath & Body Works “Snowed In” candle design strangely looked like multiple KKK hoods lined up in a row with two circle cut-outs for eyes and diamond cut-outs appearing to separate each head/hood from the next.

Social media users quickly began calling out Bath & Body Works and demanding their “Snowed In” candle with its odd KKK hood-like design be pulled from shelves and online platforms. Users also urged for the company to investigate the people behind the controversial product and design and fire them.
Since going viral and being called out by the masses, Bath & Body Works has acknowledged all of the concerns and is coughing up an apology for the apparent error in design. According to TMZ, a spokesperson for Bath & Body Works told them, “We are committed to listening to our teams and customers and committed to fixing any mistakes we make—even those that are unintentional like this one.”

The Bath & Body Works spokesperson continued to tell the publication, “We apologize to anyone we’ve offended and are swiftly working to have this item removed and [are] evaluating our process [going] forward.” TMZ also noted that the marketing error arrived two years after Bath & Body Works came under fire during Black History Month.
The company had advertised its everyday products as “limited edition” goods by branding everything in new packaging. A user on X shared a photo of a Black History Month display inside of a Bath & Body Works store. The stand featured a large sign that read, “Celebrate Black History Month” in bold, brown, capital lettering.

The border around it featured an African-themed pattern. On the display table, several beauty products were featured with similar African-themed prints on the bottles and packaging.
The user captioned the post, “Why I’m thinking Bath and Body Works [has] a new fragrance and it’s the same fragrance only in Kente cloth colors.”
